Nowadays, radiation devices are widely used in people's daily life. Whether the radiation of security inspection instruments is safe and whether medical X-ray is harmful to human body are all issues of great concern to the public. Recently, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the National Health and Family Planning Commission have formulated and published a new edition of the Radiation Device Classification (hereinafter referred to as the Classification), which further clarifies the relevant issues.
According to the potential harmfulness of radiation devices to human health and environment, the classification divides radiation devices into categories I, II and III from high to low.
Short-time irradiation in type I radiation device accidents can cause serious radiation damage to irradiated personnel, which requires high safety and protection requirements; type II radiation device accidents can cause serious radiation damage to irradiated personnel, which requires high safety and protection requirements; and type III radiation device accidents generally do not cause radiation damage. The safety and protection requirements of irradiated personnel are relatively simple.
According to Classification, X-ray baggage scanner devices belonging to Class III include medical X-ray computed tomography (CT) devices; X-ray luggage scanner devices for human safety inspection; medical diagnostic X-ray devices; X-ray luggage inspection devices; oral (dental) X-ray devices; X-ray diffractometer; simulation positioning device for radiotherapy; X-ray fluorescence spectrometer; X-ray blood irradiator; other kinds of X-ray detection devices (thickness measurement, weighing, aperture measurement, density measurement, etc.); ion beam (implantation) device; veterinary X-ray device; electron beam welding machine.
It can be seen that radiation devices are widely used in medical, security and other fields, and are closely related to the daily life of the public. Therefore, its safety and reliability have been highly concerned. The classification further clarifies the potential hazards of radiation devices to human health and the environment, and helps the public to further understand the radiation devices, break down rumors and eliminate unnecessary panic.
